- Lead day-to-day operations of the SMART Centre, ensuring reliable execution of applied research activities across IT, software, and technical domains
- Manage and train cross-functional teams of 10–20 students, setting priorities, assigning work, and maintaining accountability for operational outcomes
- Coordinate shared equipment and infrastructure usage across staff and student teams to maximize uptime and throughput
- Own installation, operation, and maintenance of research equipment and lab infrastructure, minimizing disruptions to active projects
- Provide daily operational oversight for research projects, supporting planning, execution, and issue resolution
- Establish, document, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve consistency, safety, and scalability
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety requirements through regular audits, training, and corrective actions

- Assigned and prioritized work across students, researchers, and technologists, balancing project demands while maintaining lab throughput

- Partnered with the Research Manager and Director to evaluate, recommend, and justify new equipment investments to support centre expansion and future capabilities

- Led end-to-end delivery of research projects when required, taking ownership of technical execution, stakeholder communication, and results
- Supported day-to-day lab operations in a multidisciplinary applied research environment, working closely with technologists, faculty, and lab management to keep projects and teaching activities running smoothly
- Contributed to the implementation of an inventory control system, improving tooling visibility, stock accuracy, and operational readiness across labs
- Produced mechanical and electrical drawings to support new initiatives, equipment integration, and lab upgrades using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Mastercam
- Assisted with lab setup and teardown for student and research use, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and minimizing downtime
- Managed and maintained shared lab resources including 3D printers, CNC equipment, and waterjet systems, processing requests and prioritizing workloads
